Ireland snatch defeat from the jaws of victory

A disappointing showing for Ireland in the Olympic 7s last night. Ireland needed to win by more than 7 points against a less talented Kenya to advance to the next round. Ireland started strong, the score was 12-0 in favor of Ireland at half time.

Various missed opportunities and sloppy play showed the score unchanged until 1 minute from full time when Kenya scored a try to finish the score at 12-7 after the successful conversion.

Now Ireland will play Kenya again. A win will give Ireland a 9th place finish.
